| Date: May 2009 Location: High Point, North Carolina Victim: adult male, adult female Breed: Mixed breed, two dogs Severity: Several bites at Level 3 Circumstances: The two dogs were mating, tied. When this happens, your best course of happen is to wait until the dogs are finished copulating and address the situation then. Instead, these two geniuses tried to separate the dogs which is both painful and obviously dangerous. I like the wording used by the report - the dogs became "irritated" and attacked the two people. Deservedly, I'd say. LINK | |

| Date: May 2009 Location: New Zealand Victim: adult male Breed: Cane Corso or mastiff mix, two dogs Severity: Level 5 Circumstance: Dogs running loose, attack man near his home. The dogs are normally chained, as evidenced by the long, thick chain attached to a metal bar that is shown in the picture (and was used to try and stop the attack). A passer-by was able to kick one dog away but the other wouldn't let go. He beat the dog with the metal bar attached to the dog's chain. LINK | |

| Date: May 2009 Location: Rowan County, North Carolina Victim: 3-yr-old female Breed: Unknown, two dogs, a Rottweiler and Lab were chained in the backyard Severity : Level 4 bite to face, Level 2-3 bite on arm Circumstances: This story bothers me. The two dogs were either kenneled or tethered. These appeared to have been resident dogs more than family pets, part of the pack. The Rottweiler was 10, which is pretty old for such a big dog. My guess he wasn't on pain meds or arthritis treatment. The other dog was four. The child was alone with the dogs when the bite happened. Kids cannot be trusted to be around animals alone. They just cannot. It is asking way too much of the child and even more of the dog. Both dogs will most likely be killed. Sad story all around. Link | |
